The first and most important step in modifying a Mustang or any
other car is the engine. A stock Mustang GT comes with a 289 ci engine in the
older(60's and 70's) and a 302 ci in the 80's and early 90's models. Most modified
Mustangs consist of the stock GT engines with aftermarket high performance engine parts
such as: carbeurators, headers, cams, and intake manifolds.
If you chose to put in a whole different engine for extra
horsepower, any aftermarker Ford Motorsports engines will suffice. Here are some
recommended engines.
